Client Story: Ms. D, Behavioral Health at MKHC

In 2018, Ms. D was referred to MKHC for severe depression and anxiety. After an initial session with the in-house Behavioral Health social worker, she was put on medication to manage her conditions and improve her sleep and poor appetite. She began learning coping skills to manage panic attacks and implemented a self-care routine, including going for walks and listening to her favorite music.

Ms. D checks in with the behavioral health program every 2-3 months. As needed, she and the social worker consult a psychiatrist to adjust her medications and dosage to deal with changing life situations. This stability makes it possible for her to work a part-time job as a cleaner and to maintain better relationships with her sons and her extended family. Every time she comes in for a follow-up, Ms. D is always very grateful for the care she gets at the clinic and the help she has received.
